Visitation for Stanley “Stan” Hapke, 85, a lifelong resident of Palatine, will be held at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine from 10:00am until the time of the Funeral Service at 12Noon on Tuesday, May 20, 2014.  An Interment will follow at Randhill Park Cemetery in Arlington Heights.Stan was born on December 3, 1928 in Palatine on Colfax Street the son of the late Edward C. and Emily (nee: Linnemann) Hapke and passed away on Saturday, May, 17, 2014.

At the age of 17 Stanley enlisted in the U.S. Navy and was directed to serve aboard the old USS Saratoga Aircraft Carrier in the Marshall Islands where he witnessed 2 Atomic Bomb tests at Bikini Atoll.  A member of the Palatine American Legion Post #690 for more than 30 years.  Throughout the majority of Stan’s life he had worked as a manager in the food and bar business throughout the northwest suburbs, including 11 years at Twin Orchard Country Club in Long Grove.  Stan had also worked and retired from the Palatine Park District.

Beloved husband of Wilda A. (nee McGuffin) Hapke; loving father of Cheryl (Joel) Criswell and Dana Rae (Jim) Boyd; dear grandfather of Lindsay Barber, Tarin (John) McGinnis, Ciony Sengson and Jake and Luke Boyd; great grandfather of Cameron McGinnis and Cimone Locklar; fond brother of Delbert (Carolyn) and the late Don Hapke; also survived by many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials, in memory of Stan, would be appreciated for Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 1190 N. Hicks Road, Palatine, IL 60067
