Stephen H. Norys

Visitation for Stephen H. Norys, age 82, will be held Thursday, January 3, 2019 at St. Theresa Catholic Church, 455 N. Benton Street, Palatine, Illinois, 60067 from 3:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:30p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said on Friday, January 4, 2019, 10:00a.m. also at St. Theresa Catholic Church, Palatine. The Interment will follow at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery, Palatine.

Stephen passed away peacefully on Monday, December 31, 2018 surrounded by his wife and family in Palatine. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gail Wesolek Norys, his children Steve (Nancy) Norys, Jerry (Jennifer) Norys, Lorrie (Ron) Mammarella, Greg (Debbie) Norys, and Mary Kaye (Michael) Pollard. His spirit will live on through his children, 20 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.

Stephen was ordained to the Permanent Deaconate on April 22, 1989. He devoted his life to God, the Catholic Church, the community and especially his family. He faithfully served at St. Theresa Church in Palatine where he touched the lives of many throughout his 29 years. He was always available to lend an ear, a hand, and especially his heart. He ministered to everyone he encountered and had a kind word for all.

As a husband and father he will be deeply missed. His loving gaze, his contagious smile, his encouraging words and his bits of wisdom and humor will live on in their memory forever. The genuine love and devotion to his wife, Gail, was like no other. He loved her more than life itself. He embodied the command of our Lord to love one another and his love will now live on through his lineage.
