Visitation for Susan M. Lindner, 64, of Lake Zurich, will be held on Wednesday, May 21, 2014 from 3:00pm until 9:00pm at The Chapel, Lake Zurich, 330 S. Old Rand Road, Lake Zurich. A Funeral Mass will be said on Thursday, May 22, 2014, 10:00am at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Road in Lake Zurich. The Internment will follow at Lake Zurich Cemetery.Born August 10, 1949 in Takoma Park, Maryland, she was the daughter of Doris (Payne) Younkers and the late Donald Younkers. Susan graduated from Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville, Maryland in 1967. She married Mark Lindner in 1976 and moved to Illinois. She was a resident of Lake Zurich for the past 36 years. Susan passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 15, 2014 surrounded by her family.
Susan had a successful 19-year career at Allstate in various claims positions and as a licensed insurance agent. She also dedicated many years of her life to volunteering and giving back to the community. She spent the past 22 years working for Lake Zurich Community Unit School District 95 as a secretary, first at May Whitney Elementary School and then at Spencer Loomis Elementary School. She was a proud recipient of the district’s 2014 Distinguished Service Award. Susan was known as the heart and soul of Spencer Loomis. She had a deep love for the school, the children, the parents, and the staff. She considered everyone at Spencer Loomis and her many friends throughout the district to be part of her family.
She is survived by her beloved husband, Mark; loving children, Matt Lindner, Elizabeth Lindner (Mike Michalski) and Katie (Jeff) Jones; mother Doris Younkers; siblings Sandra (Jack) Pace, Donald (Jaye) Younkers Jr., Sharon Younkers, Lee (Deborah) Younkers and James (Rebecca) Younkers; also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Susan, may be made to the District 95 Educational Foundation.
