Timothy Jay Hooker (7/18/47 – 7/18/18), of Bull Valley, IL, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018. Originally from Bradford, Illinois, Tim attended Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois, where he earned a Bachelor of Education (1969), and two Master of Arts in Instructional Media and Economics (1973).
Tim was preceded in death by his parents Jewell Hooker, Harriet Hooker and infant son, Matthew Hooker. He is survived by his beloved children, Tadd Hooker, Melissa Hooker (Pablo Guereca), and Joshua Hooker (Nichol), and their mother Christine Hooker; his loving grandchildren: Kelly Bezier (Greg), Erin Hooker, Jacob Hooker, Andres Guereca, Ethan Hooker, Elena Guereca; and, great-granddaughter Audrey Rose Bezier.
He is also survived by his loving partner, Kathleen Marie Richards, and her children Raymond Marcel Quarles, Stephen Edmund Quarles (Arlene), and Rachel Quarles Soos (Victor). He will be very much missed by the children who called him Grandpa Tim: Raymond Earl Quarles, Kayla Sproule, Elise Queen, Hope Kathleen Quarles, Cody Quarles, Gina Soos, Annie Soos, and Katie Soos.
Tim was a world class and award winning wildfowl carver for more than 20 years and established woodworking businesses, Swan Quarter and TJ’s Rig in Crystal Lake and McHenry, Illinois. For the past 15+ years he worked as a real estate appraiser throughout northern Illinois. His boyhood interest in sailing came to life in his 50s when he learned, on Lake Geneva, the art and skill of sailing. His love and respect for the water and the wildlife within it gave him great peace and joy.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Barrington on Saturday, July 28th at 10am.
