Tsuyaka Oda

Funeral Services for Tsuyaka Oda, 89, of Chicago, will be private according to her wishes.

Tsuyaka passed away on May 21, 2016 surrounded by family at JourneyCare Hospice at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL and was born in Sapporo, Japan on April 10, 1927.

Tsuyaka came to the U.S. in 1952 with her late husband, Kenneth K. Oda.  She worked for 25 years at LaSalle Photo Company.  Tsuyaka was involved in Kendo and was a good friend to many.  She lived a full and happy life and was a very loving and giving person who enjoyed cooking and reading books.

Tsuyaka is survived by a sister Reiko Ishiguro; a son Arthur (Kelly) Oda and daughters Tsukiko Oda-Riddell and Joyce

Anderson; four grandchildren, Ken Oda, Aimee Oda, Tanya (Jason) Gipson-Nahman and Samantha Riddell; two great grandchildren Kenji and Misha Gipson-Nahman.

Preceded in death by her oldest son, Kenji Oda and son-in-law James Anderson.
