Violet R. Schroeder

through His servant, Violet.

Visitation for Violet R. (nee Pankonin) Schroeder, 89, of Palatine, will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 200 N. Plum Grove Road, Palatine, from 9:30a.m., until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00a.m. The Interment will follow at Union Cemetery on Greeley Street in Palatine.

Born on April 27, 1935, Violet was the beloved wife of the late Wayne Schroeder for more than 67 years. She was the loving mother of Steven (Janis) Schroeder, Jeffrey (Cynthia) Schroeder, Gregory (Kimberly) Schroeder, Annette (Michael) Grogan, Thomas (Paula) Schroeder, Pamela (Paul) Pearson, David Schroeder and Timothy Schroeder, cherished grandmother of 22; and loving great-grandmother of 23.

Violet was a long-time member of Immanuel Lutheran Church & School, in Palatine, where she was confirmed (1949), graduated (1949) and married (1954). She also was a long-time resident of Palatine and a 1953 graduate of Palatine High School.

After graduation, Violet began a 42-year career holding various positions at Kraft Foods, March of Dimes, local School District 15, Zurich Insurance Co, Field Enterprises where she sold World Book Encyclopedias for 13 years, March of Dimes and the American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons, before retiring in 1997.

At Immanuel, Violet was employed as the church secretary, and volunteered as AAL secretary for 17 years, served as Girl Scout leader, a member of 50s-Plus and served on several committees including the building committee and Immanuel’s 150th Anniversary committee in 2018-2019.

In addition to her beloved husband, Wayne, Violet was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Ruth (nee Seegers) Pankonin and brother, Louis Pankonin.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Immanuel Lutheran Church & School, 200 North Plum Grove Road, Palatine, IL 60067.
