Memorial Visitation for Walter H. Marquardt, Jr., 84, of Palatine since 1957, will be held Wednesday, April 9, 2014 from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the Memorial Service, 2:00 p.m. at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. The Reverend Michael Morris will officiate the service. The Interment will be private.
Walter was born January 16, 1930 in Keewaunee, WI, and he passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on April 3, 2014 after a brief illness.
He was a Korean War veteran having served from 1952 until 1954, and he received 2 Bronze Battle Stars for bravery. He attended Bucknell University and was a chemical engineer until his retirement.
Walter is survived by his wife of 62 yrs, Ann M. Marquardt (nee Schwartz); three sons, Dr. Steven (Sandy) Marquardt, Jeffrey (Anna) Marquardt and Scott Marquardt; six grandchildren, Siiri, Colin, James (Juyeon), Alex, Ansley and Austin Marquardt; and great-grandson, Edison Marquardt.
He was preceded in death by his parents Walter H. Sr. and Mildred (nee Dishmaker) Marquardt.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL, 60601.
