Walter Johnson Jr.

A Visitation for Walter “Wally” Johnson Jr., 91, of Palatine, will be from 2:30 PM until the time of the Memorial Service, 4:30 PM on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Ahlgrim Family Funeral Home, 201 N. Northwest Highway, Palatine. The Interment will be private.

Wally was born on November 10, 1927 to Walter & Myrtle Johnson. He passed away on Monday, November 19, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Arlington Heights.

Wally was the owner of Walter Johnson Jr. Trucking & Trenching for over 50 years. He was actively involved in many roles of the 4-H organization in North Cook County for many years. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and building bird feeders and birdhouses. His other passions included gardening and spending time in his greenhouse with his orchids.

Wally was the beloved husband of the late Sherrill A. Johnson, whom he married on June 22, 1957. He is survived by his daughters, Connie (Vito) Ponce and Shelly (Lou) Leggett; his siblings, Kenneth Johnson, the late Robert Johnson, and the late Marvin Johnson; his sister-in-law’s, Maribeth Johnson and Sandra Van Horn; and many nieces and nephews.
