The Visitation for Warren Kayler, 86, of Inverness will be held on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10:00AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00AM at St. John United Church of Christ, 1475 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. An Interment will follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery, next door to the church.
Warren was born on April 11, 1928 in Cicero, IL the son of the late Frank and Emily (nee Houda) Kayler and passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014.
Warren served with the U.S. Merchant Marines during WWII and also during the Korean War.
Prior to the retirement of Warren he had worked for many years as a broadcast engineer with ABC Channel 7 in Chicago. One of the hobbies he enjoyed was operating his HAM radio with his call letters being W9OWV.
Survived by his beloved wife of 53 years Dolores A. (nee Smelter) Kayler; loving children Susan Kayler, Warren F. (Gwyn) Kayler, Jr., Glenn (Paula) Kayler and Ellen (Fiancé Jim Hardy) Kayler and the late Jim Kayler; cherished grandfather of Matthew, Kayla, Steven, Laura, Joshua, Aaron, Jimmy, Samantha and the late James; great grandfather of 9.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in memory of Warren, would be appreciated for James’ Journey with EDS, 2100 Sanders Road, Suite 200, Northbrook, IL 60062.
