Palatine

Wendy Eileen Blanck, 83, of Palatine, IL, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on Friday, April 19, 2024.

Wendy was born on March 19, 1941, in Chicago, IL, to the late Philip and Genevieve Dewey and grew up in Munster, Indiana.

She graduated from Hammond High School, attended Indiana University in Bloomington and was a member of the Sigma Kappa Sorority. She met her husband of nearly 63 years, Bruce, while they were taking an Indiana University extension course in the summer of 1960.

Wendy’s passions were her faith and her family. She lived a life of worship and service to God and had a tireless commitment and boundless love for her family. She loved leading and participating in children and family ministries at First Presbyterian Church where she was a member for nearly 50 years. She also enjoyed leading mission work in the Dominican Republic and participating in Presbyterian Women Circle. She fulfilled a dream of her lifetime when she visited the Holy Land. She cherished time spent with family and friends every summer in Door County, Wisconsin.

Prior to her retirement in 2017, Wendy was the Executive Administrative Assistant at Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) for 19 years, a job she dearly loved and where she made many lifelong friends. She also worked as a Teacher’s Aide for School District 15 in Palatine, served as the Co-Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, and was an Administrative Assistant for Siemens Corporation in Hoffman Estates.

Wendy will be missed by her husband, Bruce Blanck; her children, Karen Blanck and Mike Blanck; her grandchildren, Nicole Blanck, Hannah (Tyler) Parks, and Lee Blanck; her great grandchild, Danielle Blanck; her siblings, Alan (Marianne) Dewey and Nancy (Wayne) Huddleston and their six children Kevin, A.J., Emily, Laura, Jon and Kim. She is preceded in death by her daughter Kathleen Blanck.
