William George Thompson, age 58, of Tinley Park, died unexpectedly Monday, May 26, 2014. He was born on May 20, 1956 in Chicago to Leo and Florence (Kalata) Thompson. Formerly of Palatine and Rolling Meadows, Bill was a resident of Tinley Park for the past 20 years. After graduating from Illinois State University with a BS in Philosophy, Bill received his Masters in Pastoral Theology from Loyola University. Much of his career was spent in trust operations and database design working at First National Bank, Boulevard Bank, Continental Bank, and Innovative Access Solutions, his database design firm. He was an accomplished saxophone player and throughout his life enjoyed wood-working, bicycle riding and basketball in his leisure time. He was passionate in his support of Chicago White Sox baseball and would frequently engage in debates with family and friends on political and social issues. Bill used his passion for human rights as the motivation for his recently published novel, The Scavenger’s Daughter (ISBN-10: 098531110X, ISBN-13: 978-0985311100). Bill was proudest of his volunteer work on behalf of animal rights. Survivors include his loving mother, Florence A. Thompson (nee Kalata), three brothers, Michael (Donna), Richard (Nancy) and Patrick (Janet), and a sister, Kathleen (Brian Fry) and several nieces and nephews. He was previously married to Eva Perez and Sally-Jo Erickson. He was preceded in death by his father, Leo A. Thompson in 2001 and grandparents, William and Pearl Kalata. At the family’s request, services and internment were private. Memorials in Bill’s name can be made to PAWS http://www.pawschicago.org.
