William L. Westermann Jr.

Visitation for William L. Westermann, Jr., 94, of Schaumburg, former longtime resident of Palatine, will be held Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Service, 11:00 a.m. at Christ the King Evangelical Lutheran Church, 100 W. Michigan Avenue, Palatine.  An Interment will follow at Randhill Park Cemetery, Arlington Heights.

William was born October 13, 1922 in Kansas City, MO, the son of the late William L. and Agnes (Dierker) Westermann, and passed away on Saturday, July 29, 2017 in Schaumburg.

During WWII William worked for the FBI and while stationed in Havana, Cuba he met his future wife Kathryn Burfield of Oregon who was also working for the FBI.  After the war William began a career in the export business which allowed him the opportunity to travel throughout the world to more than sixty countries.  William was actively involved with his church where he was an elder, a deacon, sang in the choir, lead Bible studies and taught Sunday School.  He also volunteered by delivering food to the homebound and transporting people to Dr. appointments and other activities.  Some hobbies William enjoyed were studying history, drawing, painting and reading.

Beloved husband of the late Kathryn (Burfield) Westermann and his second wife Marjorie (Peterson) Westermann; loving father of Janet L. Ferrar, William (Nancy) Westermann, Ann (Edwin) Mason and Karen (Thomas) Wischhusen; cherished grandfather of  Scott (Jennifer) Ferrar, Jill (Kurt) Hanssen, Kristen Carnehl, Carolyn (Gregory) VerCautren, William (Lauren), Daniel (Nicole), David (Amy) and Adam (Michelle) Westermann, Brian, Kevin and Keith Mason, David (Amy) Wischusen and Kathryn Wischhusen; great grandfather of Spencer, Samuel and Lucy Ferrar, Holly and  Kelly Hanssen, Ava VerCautren, Will, Graham and Nolan Westermann, Mazie, Myles and Mia Westermann, Makayla and Alana Westmann and Audrey and Benjamin Westermann; dear brother of the late Lucille Westermann and the late Maj. Richard “Bud” Westermann.
