William A. McFarland

Bill McFarland, 86, of Hawthorn Woods, passed away on Wednesday, February 28, 2024. He was born in Pittsburgh PA on February 27, 1938, to Cornelius and Laura McFarland (nee Graham).  He was a loving husband of 40 years to Ruthann (nee Cherhavy), and together they raised two sons, and shared the joy of three grandchildren.
 
He leaves behind his wife Ruthann, son Kyle, as well as grandchildren Haley, Connor and Colton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Greg.
 
After graduating from the University of Pittsburgh, Bill proudly served in the U.S. Army Signal Corp Reserves. Simultaneously Bill started his almost 40-year career with Anixter Bros. After retirement he started his own business, AllSmart Solutions, with a dear friend and colleague.
 
Bill was an avid outdoorsman, from hunting to snow and water skiing, a voracious reader, as well as culinary expert at outdoor grilling regardless of the season.

He loved sharing his passions with friends and family; he will be remembered as a gentle, kind and humble man.
