Committal Services for William J. “Bill” Provenzano, 75, will be held Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery Chapel (meet at cemetery office at 10:45 a.m.) 1185 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine, IL, 60067. The Interment will follow.
William was born September 11, 1949, in Melrose Park, and passed away April 12, 2025, in Lake Zurich.
A warrior in many senses, Bill was a fighter. He fought workplace injustices and Parkinson’s disease. One to never aqueous, he lived his mission.
Not a warm and fuzzy person, he guided by example. Observing where unconditional love was needed, his kids Adam and Amanda grew to be loving and driven adults. Bill introduced them to travel at an early age, inspiring Amanda to travel the world and heal the ocean. Adam became the caring father he desired and created a family full of laughter.
Bill’s hard work as an employment lawyer for over 40 years helped thousands of people. A graduate of John Marshall Law School 1975, and Northern Illinois University 1971, he had an insatiable appetite for Civil War history. Often, attending boring Civil War reenactments, or taking trips to Gettysburg, PA and D.C.
Outside of work, Bill spent most of his time enthusiastically yelling at the Cubs and Bears on TV. He enjoyed live concerts, scuba diving, wine and riding his old lawn mower. A constant reminder of the 60s, Bill would blast the Stones with the windows down rain or shine.
He found the things that made him light up.
Bill is remembered by his son, Adam and daughter-in-law, Sam Provenzano and their three kids; his daughter, Amanda Provenzano; former wife, Jean Steffens; brothers, Jim and Steve Provenzano and their families; and the team of invaluable caregivers who made his last years heartfelt.
