Susan Ellen Carpenter was the 5th Child of 7 born in January 2nd, 1962 to Joe & Alberta Carpenter in Waukegan, Illinois. Susan passed away Monday, January 17th, 2022.
Susan was a loving and devoted sister to Richard Winkler (Colette), Linda Prusinski (Jim), Nancy Mundschenk, Mark Carpenter, Patrick Carpenter (Linda), and Pamela Simonetti (Dan). She was an adoring aunt to her 3 nieces and 14 nephews and was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Richard.
Susan’s love and devotion to dogs led to her involvement with The Great Pyrenees Rescue Mission and she leaves behind her two cherished furry babies Rocco and LaKota. After a long day her favorite pastime was sitting under the tree with her dogs and a hot cup of tea.
She was very passionate and creative in her life’s work as a Master Gardener, Chef and Caregiver for the elderly. Our sister promoted organic eating with a Farm to Table program and served in numerous soup kitchens. Susan also enjoyed horseback riding, walking her dogs, cooking for others and being outdoors.
Susan’s faithfulness to her friends and family was outshined only by her generosity and hospitality to everyone. Words cannot express our family’s deep sense of loss and sorrow with her passing.
Susan, our sweetheart sister will always be missed. Rest in Peace Dear Little Sister. We will all be with you in heaven One Sweet Day. You are always in our Thoughts. Love, Linda, Jim, Peter & Eric.

This picture of Sue captures her vivacious spirit beautifully.💕good thoughts sent to all who loved her. Cheers to Susan and her too short but full life lived on her terms.
Our sincerest condolences to the Carpenter family.
Susan’s passing was a reminder about how fleeting our lifetime is on this beautiful planet earth. When Susan departed to Heaven, I sadly pondered how such a sweet and loving person Susan always had been, I regret not being more involved in her life. The last time we were together was at her brother Richard funeral in Greenville. We spoke many times over a couple days, in hindsight, our conversations were the deepest we had ever had and we bonded as family should.
She stated that I would always be that sweet little blond haired boy to her and proceeded to invite me to visit her in Wisconsin. I wish I had gone. Kisses to both cheeks forever my sweet cousin Susan.
My deepest condolences to the Carpenter family on the passing of my longest and very special friend Susan. We had been friends since kindergarten, lost touch through the years like many, but reunited when she moved back from Connecticut. Since then I had the blessing to share in many deep conversations (as ours always were), along with fantastic times together attending several concerts, a special dinner for her 58th birthday and her joining my family in Lake Geneva last summer on a family getaway! She was a bright, joyful soul with an adventurous spirit and talented in many creative arts. She will be missed greatly but never forgotten.
Dear Susan…Enjoy your time with David Bowie and the other artist you wanted to see once you arrived in Heaven, and save me a good spot.
Until we meet again,
Your forever friend
Nancy ❤️
In this time of sadness I wanted to express how grateful I feel to have Susan as my friend. Our paths crossed because of our love of our precious pups. I have many fond memories spending time with Susan. We were both nature girls who loved all the beauty of the countryside. My life has been changed for the better by having someone so special touch my heart. My deepest sympathies are with you now and the days ahead.
❤ Lynn
I send my deepest sympathies to Susan’s family and friends. Sue was a good friend of mine from high school and we kept in touch ever since. She was a very special and kind person who loved Jesus, her family, and friends. I am very sad she is not here with us on earth but joyful knowing she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I miss her.
